1- Absorbed : (bir konuyla çok ilgilenmek) “at” ile değil, “in” ile kullanılır.
Yanlış (Don't say) : The scientist was absorbed at his work.
Doğru (Say) : The scientist was absorbed in his work. (Alim işine dalmıştı.)
2.Accuse of : suçlamak
Yanlış (Don't say) : Her friends accused her for stealing.
Doğru (Say): Her friends accused her of stealing.
Fakat aynı anlama gelen, “charge” fiili “with” ile kullanılmalıdır.
He was charged with murder. (Cinayetle suçlandı)
3.Accustomed to (alışmak,kanıksamak): not with.
Yanlış (Don't say): I’m accustomed with cold weather.
Doğru (Say) : I’m accustomed to cold weather.(Soğuk havaya alıştım.)
4.Afraid of : korkmak,
Yanlış (Don't say): The woman is afraid from the dog.
Doğru (Say) : The woman is afraid of the dog.(Kadın köpekten korkuyor veya korkar.)
5.Aim at : nişan almak, hedef almak
Yanlış (Don't say) : The hunter aimed on (veya against) the bird.
Doğru(Say) : The hunter aimed at the bird.(Avcı kuşa nişan aldı.)
6.Angry with: kızmak, öfkelenmek
Yanlış (Don't say): The manager was angry against me.
Doğru (Say) : The manager was angry with me.(Yönetici bana kızdı)
7.Anxious about: endişelenmek, meraklanmak
Yanlış(Don't say): His family was anxious for his health.
Doğru (Say): His family was anxious about his health.(Ailesi onun sağlığından endişe duydu.)
8.Arrive at : Varmak, ulaşmak
Yanlış(Don't say) : We arrived to the city at midnight.

9.Ashamed of: utanmak,hicap duymak
Yanlış(Don't say): We’re always ashamed from him.
Doğru (Say) : We’re always ashamed of him (Ondan daima utandık.)
10.Believe in: İnanmak, iman etmek
Yanlış( Don't say) : Everybody believes to him.
Doğru (Say) : Everybody believes in him.(Herkes ona inanır.)
Doğru (Say) : We, muslims, believe in Allah.(Biz müslümanlar Allah’a inanırız(iman ederiz)).
11.Boast of: Böbürlenmek
Yanlış (Don't say): She boasted for her beauty.
Doğru (Say): She boasted of (veya about) her beauty.
12.Careful of : Dikkat etmek, özen göstermek
Yanlış (Don't say) : You are so careful for your health.
Doğru (Say): You are very careful of your health. (Sağlığına çok dikkat ediyorsun)
13. Watch : Aynı anlama gelmek üzere watch prepozisyonsuz kullanılır.
Doğru (say): Watch your steps (words). (Adımlarına (sözlerine) dikkat et.)
14.To travel by train, bus, aeroplane : Seyahat etmek
Yanlış (Don't say): They always travel with train(bus veya aeroplane)
Doğru (Say) : They always travel by train (veya bus, aeroplane.) (Onlar daima trenle (veya otubüsle, uçakla) seyahat ederler.)
15.Complain of : Şikayet etmek
Yanlış (Don't say) : Many people complain for the cold.
Doğru(Say) : Many people complain of the cold. (Bir çok insan soğuktan şikayet eder.
16.Composed of : meydana gelmek,oluşmak
Yanlış (Don't say) : Our team is composed from ten people.
Doğru(Say) : Our team is composed of ten people. (Bizim takım on kişiden meydana geliyor.
17.Confident in : Güven duymak, güvenmek

Aynı anlama gelen trust fiili prepozisyonsuz kullanılır.

E) Bazı sıfatlardan (adjectives) sonra :

G) Belirli fiillerden sonra gerunds veya mastar (infinitive) kullanılabilir. Mesela,
